How to Prepare
Class mp3 files for your Ipod (or mp3 player)
Instructions
are for Windows XP:
1) Right
click on the class link.
2) If you use Internet
Explorer, select "Save Target As".
3) Browse to a folder where
you can save the file(s).
4) Click "Save"
The
class
mp3 file(s) is now
on your hard drive.
To get
the files onto your
Ipod, I strongly suggest you edit the tags on each file so you can tell
which class you are listening to in your player. The mp3s were
originally made with a "boilerplate" tag for each class -- every mp3 in
a class has the same identical tag. Do the following:
After
downloading the files
you want, open Windows Explorer to the folder where the files
are. If you don't know how to do this, follow these instructions:
- Right
click your START button,
- Click "Explore"
- Click the folder that
contains the mp3 files.
- Now you want to do a slight
modification of the title of each file because when I made these, I
named all files in the class by the same name; the class name. If
you want these in your Ipod, you're going to want to change the title
by adding "Class 1", "Class 2" etc at the end of the title of each file
so you can tell them apart in your Ipod. I apologize, I should
have done this myself, but my software wasn't able to do it. It's
on my list of things to upgrade.
- Right
click the first file name.
- Then click "Properties"
- Then click the "Summary" tab.
- Click the Title.
- Type in the class number at
the end of the title. For numbers less than 10, I'd type in 01, 02, 03
etc so they sort properly in your Ipod.
- Click "Ok"
Do this
for every file.
Now you are ready to get these files on your Ipod. If you are using an
mp3 player, use your usual procedure to copy files into it. Here
are instructions for using Itunes to upload files to an Ipod:
- Start up Itunes.
- Click "File" at the top left
of your screen.
- Click "Import"
- Select the first mp3 file.
- Itunes will add the file to
your library.
- Do steps 1-5 for all the mp3
files.
- Then make a playlist for
your class and put all your class files into the playlist.
- Sync your Ipod and your new
class playlist should be on your Ipod with all the classes!
